For the first time since 2005, purebred Caspian Beluga caviar is now available in the United States, thanks to Sturgeon Aquafarms, LLC—the exclusive aquafarm in America raising Beluga sturgeon. Native to the Caspian Sea, Beluga sturgeon produces the largest and most delicate eggs among all sturgeon, making for an extraordinary caviar experience.
In 2003, Sturgeon Aquafarms began importing Beluga and other sturgeon species for domestic breeding. However, in 2005, the U.S. imposed a ban on all imports of Beluga and its caviar due to a decline in wild populations. Since 2009, Sturgeon Aquafarms has been successfully breeding Beluga and four other sturgeon species in Bascom, Florida. Now, after a decade and a half, and at the culmination of a 40-year journey, our authentic Beluga caviar is finally on the market in the United States.
As the only company currently holding this critically endangered species in the Western Hemisphere, we are uniquely positioned to help restore its wild populations through our successful breeding methods. Our mission has expanded to include assisting in re-population efforts, facilitating technology transfer through international agreements, and developing effective captive breeding techniques for these unique species.
